Ximena Del Toro Link Crew and Renaissance Coordinator August 17, 2023 ASB Report: July-August Position Assessment- The month of July was quite a busy one as the Link Crew and Renaissance Coordinator. I started the month by helping design class t-shirts. Towards the middle of the month, I attended Core Camp with most of the Leadership program. During my time at Core, I learned a lot about new skills and the new leadership program. I also learned what being a commission is and my impact. Later in the month, I attended a meeting with the commissioner heads to discuss what the events we create would look like and get a head start on some things for the year. Toward the end of July, I had another meeting with Ms. Mortensen, Alizeh, Jenna, Kylee, and Riely. The purpose of this meeting was to plan out Link Crew training day and Freshmen Orientation. I later attended the Leadership training that ended with a Costco trip to get supplies for Freshmen Orientation. The next day was the Link Crew training. I also worked a shift at Pow Wow selling class t-shirts. My Link Crew team and I worked on getting name tags done, doing the supply bags, and working on the procedure form. We then had Freshmen Orientation and it was a success! Then came the first day of school where I attended the Welcome Back activity before school began. Standing Committee- This year, I am in charge of the Link Crew and Academic standing committee. So far, we have discussed some program revamping and decided to figure out the details later. We discussed making Renaissance an academic rewards program including Honor Roll and the Principal's list based on semester grades. We still have yet to discuss more about it and talk about it deeper. I am also in the Spotlight Crew committee. My job requires I come up with the Students of the Month. Since we have not reached the end of an academic month, this committee has not yet been implemented yet. Special Committee- I am not a part of a special committee yet but would like to get involved in one in the future. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor is Mia! Mia is a kind and fun person! We worked on our websites together and she helped me help the new students at our table figure out their websites. Mia and I actually already had each other’s phone numbers before Payton’s assignments. I hope to get to know Mia more both in and out of leadership. Concerns & Change- Last year, I was an officer in the program and this year I am a commissioner. I definitely feel the somewhat lack of communication. Last year, I knew about everything happening in the class because I was involved in the decision-making. This year, I only know things when something is going to happen or help is needed. The program keeps discussing communication but being in a different role, I now have a deeper understanding of the issue. Another concern I have is about the Homecoming theme. As a class, we narrowed down our options and agreed on our final picks at Core Camp. There were a few concerns and they were discussed as a program and resolved. A few weeks later, the theme came up again with the same concerns and we voted again. The votes concluded to be the same theme. The final theme we had voted on twice was submitted for the school to vote on. This week, we get informed that there will be a meeting to change the theme we had already voted twice on. I feel that while we do get to vote, our voices as commissioners are not being heard. We could change this by respecting the class’s wishes outside of the officers. This means listening to what we have to say and keeping it in consideration. Positive Comment- I would like to give my positive comment to the freshmen class. As they are transitioning from elementary school to high school, they have been able to keep up with the fast pace of the leadership program. They have asked questions when they have them and have already done so much. They did so well at Pow Wow and were able to adapt and work around any challenges. Core Principles- There are four core principles. I have embodied the “Be Impeccable” principle by attending all leadership events so far, attending both training on time, turning my assignments in on time and even before the deadline, and more. The next principle I have followed is the “Your Puzzle Piece Matters” principle. I have embodied this principle by doing what is best for myself and not those around me. I cannot take care of others before taking care of myself. I have embodied the principle of “The Beacon of Empowerment” by being a leader to those around me. I have been a good role model and helped those around me when I could. I have also embodied the “Evolve and Grow with Change” principle by being open to new ideas and maybe changing the way we do things compared to things that were done in the past. My Impact- I have made a positive impact in the months of July and August by working on Freshmen Orientation. Freshmen Orientation is the first high school event that the Freshmen attend and it can set a tone for their year. There are about sixty Link Crew members this school year. I worked on making name tags for both the incoming freshmen and Link Crew members, working on the bags, and so much more. I also have impacted this program by being a resource to those around me. Being my third year in the program, I have learned many things including some tips and tricks. This year, there are a handful of new people in the program and I have been able to share my knowledge with them.
Ximena Del Toro Academics and Link Crew Coordinator September 26, 2023 ASB Report: September Position Assessment- The month of September has been quite busy. During this month, I did my board meeting report. I also attended the Gratitude to the Board. I was able to work on a lot of things regarding Academic Rewards. I talked with Ms. Silva and we discussed what would be the cut-off date that worked for all students and leadership. I also created the templates on Canva. I drafted an email to the Ripon High administration letting them know about the new changes being made and what we want to do. We also decided the Link Crew will be participating in Dude Be Nice this year. I drafted an email to send to all members asking who would like to be involved along with a Google form. I then created a spreadsheet that allowed me to keep track of the information that later needed to be shared with Ms. Mortensen. I then drafted another email that I required all Link Crew members to fill out regarding Link Crew’s nomination for this year’s nominee. I also did an announcement form so those who don’t check their email can be aware. I also began Powderpuff. This year, float decorations will be at my house so I made sure to be there when the float arrived. I am also participating in the Lip Sync. We also spent time working on Homecoming decorations. I also created the Student of the Month. I asked Ms. Clevenger for nominees as I wanted freshmen for this month and I interviewed the students she believed deserved to be the Student of the Month. I created the write-up and did the publicity along with doing an announcement. Standing Committee- This year I am in charge of the Link Crew/Academic Coordination standing Committee. The main job of this committee is to revamp what used to be Renaissance. This month we agreed on cut-off dates and the rewards that can be given out to kids along with finishing the certificate template. Special Committee- I have been involved in multiple special committees during the month of September. First off, I am in the Junior Class Lip Sync Committee. This committee is based on performing a dance at the Night Rally. I am also in the Junior Class Hoco Committee. This committee is based on all homecoming events and helping decorate. Last but not least I am in the Coronation Committee. This committee is responsible for setting up coronation on the day of Powderpuff. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor is Mia! I have really enjoyed talking to Mia some more. I have been able to answer some questions that she had regarding Formal since I was involved in the process of planning it last year. We also worked on our goals for this year and talked about them. Concerns and Change- A concern I currently have is people not being committed. There have been multiple occasions where not all leadership members are showing up to events. Leadership is a choice and a privilege and I believe you should always try to attend things and not come up with excuses. This can change by sticking to one’s word and doing their part in class events. Everyone has a role to play and it cannot be done with only half the class. Positive Comment- I would like to give my positive comment to Sofia and Gia! They are doing an amazing job with not only Kyoto but Homecoming! They have already dedicated so much time to both things and are doing such a good job. I am so excited to see Kyoto Week and what they have planned to unfold and see Homecoming come to life. Core Principles- I have followed the Core Principles in many ways. I have embodied the “Be Impeccable” principle by showing up to all leadership events on time and showing up to the events that I can. I have embodied the “Your Puzzle Piece Matters” principle by allowing myself to take time for myself and learning how to prioritize myself. I have also followed “The Beacon of Empowerment” by being someone those around me can hopefully look up to and being a good leader. Last but not least I have “Evolved and Grown with Change” by allowing new things to happen and being willing to try new things. My Impact- I have impacted the leadership program by working on Academics. I have been able to come up with a plan with assistance and hopefully find a solution so we can keep this part of leadership alive! I have also impacted the program by helping my class with anything that could be done during Homecoming. I may no longer be an officer but I still want to be involved!
Ximena Del Toro Academics and Link Crew Coordinator December 11, 2023 ASB Report: October, November, and December Position Assessment- Throughout October, November, and December, I collected all hearts for our Hughson ASB advisor project and put the letter together. I have participated in Leadership Development Day. I was in the training for the team leaders and enjoyed leading my team and working with the elementary school students. I was also a leader for my CASL group. We worked on creating a list of things we wanted to talk about. I split up the topics amongst my group and organized the essay. Once it was completed, I made sure all grammar and spelling were correct. Link Crew participated in Dude Be Nice this year. I worked on getting a nomination from Link Crew and once our Dude was selected, I worked on getting a gift together. I was also assigned to cut leaves for the quad. I also attended the Winter Formal. For some time now, I have been working on Academics. I have calculated the sum of the quotes I received from businesses we would like to work with and the cost of other items. I am working to submit the request to the Booster Club. The November Booster Club meeting was cancelled so I included a letter and an outline with the application. I also submitted a purchase order for more certificate paper. We should have enough for the first round of rewards. I have also taught Kiely and Rylee how to do the Student of the Month posts. I have also done a few myself. Aside from Academics, I have also been working on Link Crew. At the holiday Night Rally, Link Crew served hot chocolate. To prepare for this, I took inventory of the supplies we already had and ordered more of whatever we needed. I also emailed Nutrition Services and asked if they could get the water for us. Along with the Holiday Night Rally, Link Crew also has Study Buddy Nights coming up. I have been working on the procedure form and ensuring that we get all things done on time so we can be set up for success. Aside from my job, I have also participated in Leadership events. Standing Committee- A standing committee I have been a part of is the Academics Revamp Committee. We have been working to prepare for the end of the first semester when our first round of rewards will go out. I have finalized the write-up for the ASB website and that has been published. We had a meeting with Morty to discuss the rewards and finalized the cut-off dates for each semester. Once we decided on the rewards we wanted to give out, I called Pizza Plus and Meat Market to ask for a quote to reward our Principal’s List students. I have also been working on creating a list of things for the goody bags for the Honor Roll students. I calculated the cost of all this and filled out a request for a donation from Booster Club. I was planning on presenting at the November meeting but it got canceled. Instead, I wrote a letter explaining the revamp and created an outline of where we would spend the money. I turned in the request and I am currently waiting to hear back. I am also a part of the Spotlight Committee. I have learned how to do the posts. I have also worked on establishing a How-To for making the Student of the Month posts so Rylee and Kiely can also help. Special Committee- I am not a part of a special committee at this time but hope to change that. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor is Mia. I love talking to Mia and getting to know her. I am so proud of her and all her work for Winter Formal. Mia and her class did an excellent job. Concerns & Change- A concern I have is that some are not taking the opportunity to work on work days. Not only does this create a distraction in the classroom, it also creates the idea that work days are not necessary. There is a small percentage of the class using the work days and that really needs them. It is important that we all work hard and make sure we can produce the best work. This would also allow the class to stay on top of projects and make sure everything is done ahead of time. Positive Comment- I would like to shout out the Sophomore Class for an amazing Winter Formal. I know how stressful it could be especially with Warm-n-Fuzzy week right after. I know how stressful it may be and they were able to successfully pull it off. I wish them the best the rest of the year! My Impact- I have impacted the program by working on Link Cre Study Buddy Nights and making sure we are getting everything done and working for success. I have also impacted the program by working on the revamp of Academics.
Ximena Del Toro Link Crew and Renaissance Corrdinator January 30, 2024 ASB Report: January Position Assessment- The month of January has been a pretty busy one with both Academics and Link Crew. As of Academics, I have received both lists of students and have begun working on certificates. We ran into an issue with Canva that made it hard for the rest of the team to also be able to work on certificates. The solution has been to create an educator account and hope that works, so far it has. During the month of Decmeber, I had submitted a proposal to Boosters about helping fund the lunches and goody bags that had been planned for Academic Rewards. Due to a studnet turning it in and some concerns from the Booster Club, the proposal was rejected. As of right now, Academics will only be doing cerfificates. As for Link Crew, I have been planning 8th Grade Welcome Day. I created a Google Doc where we will be documenting progress for the procedure form and have created deadlines for certain parts of the procedure form. I have also submitted the design for the new Link Crew shirts. I have started two purchase orders, one for the t-shirts and another one for drinks. I am just waiting for final numbers to be able to turn in the purchase orders. I have also attended January’s Club Commitee meeting where club involvement for 8th Grade Welcome Day was discussed. Link Crew will be participating and I will be presenting at the Club Session. On a personal note, I have helped my class with Winterfest decorating days. Due to basketball however, I was only able to attend on the weekends. I also attended the Leadeship and Link Crew informational meetings. I submitted my Leadership application and will be submitting my Link Crew application later this week. I also took my headshots with Alana. Standing Committee- This year, I am in charge of the Academics Standing Committee. Now that the first semester is over, we were able to get started on the certificates. We first started with Principal’s list since it was a significantly less number of certificates that had to be made. I hope the Principal’s List certificates are done by this week so we can move on to Honor Roll. As of the food aspect of Academics, there have been some funding issues. We are still yet to make a decision of what to do next. As of now, the certificates are the only thing that will be happening. Speical Commitee- I am not a part of a special committee at this time but I hope to change that. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor this semester is still Mia. I have enjoyed watching her continue to gain confidence as a leader and as a person outside of the program. Hearing her speech this past week has shown me the amount of growth that someone can have in a year when I remember her speech from last year. Concerns & Change- A concern I have is elections. Around this time, people will be “competiting” against each other and the vibe of the class always shifts. I’m concerned that there will be a shift and it will affect the program in a negative way instead of a positive manner of preparing for the next class. Positive Comment- I want to give my positive comment to Elias. After a very rough day, he showed up and brought me food. Even the small gesture made a huge impact and brightened my day. No matter how close we may be, he still proved to be there for me and showed up when it mattered. I will forever be grateful. Core Prinicples- There are four core principles. I have embodied the “Be Impeccable” principle by attending all leadership events such as decorating days and more. I have also embodied the “Evolve and Grow with Change” principle by being open to new ideas and being able to work around challenges that have arised. My Impact- I have impacted the program by working to revamp Academcis. Although there have been some unpredicted issues, I am still working to reward the student body with the resources and time that I have.
Ximena Del Toro Academics and Link Crew Coordinator March 21, 2024 ASB Report- February and March Position Assessment- February and March were pretty busy! My main focus for February was 8th Grade Welcome Day. I worked on completing procedure forms for things such as wristbands, balloons, streamers, soda, and so much more. I also emailed Mr. B to check in and make sure he had all the supplies he needed for the BBQ. I also ensured all 8th Graders and Link Crew members had name tags and wristbands along with new transfers and added them to groups. That included counting and making sure everything was legible. I also created groups for the Link Crew members and tried splitting people up to encourage working with new people. I also created a slide for Link Crew’s presentation during the club session where I also presented. In preparing for 8th Grade Welcome Day, I also handed out the Link Crew t-shirts for next year’s group. I also created posters for things such as the sessions and each school that would be visiting. On the day of 8th Grade Welcome Day, I accomplished various tasks. To begin the day, I handed out name tags and wristbands to Link Crew members, collected permission slips for the Modesto Conference, and asked that all sign the poster for Mr. Felver. The morning also included making sure the gym was properly set up and all components were present. I gave the Counseling office the name tags and wristbands for the transfers. I spent the rest of the day presenting and making sure all students were behaving and if not, separating students to ensure all were paying attention. Once the 8th Graders were gone, we cleaned and I collected all the posters and took them to the storage room for future events. Once the day was over, my main focus became the procedure form. I delegated some parts of it but I took the responsibility of gathering all the paperwork and making sure all components would be turned in. I assigned thank you cards and did my own. I gathered signatures from Ms. Mortensen, Jenna Skavdalh, and Ms. Rodriguez. The procedure form was turned in on time. While doing most of this, I was also working on Academics and typing up all names. I also emailed Mr. Musseman about Student of the Month and he nominated two students. I have started their interviews. Aside from my Academics and Link Crew Coordinator job, I have done other things. I have done the Challenge and took care of the purchase orders for my committee, the Gift to Campus. I presented to the class and Morty. I also helped set up for the Gallery of the Arts, attended the event, and cleaned up. Standing Committee- This semester I am in charge of the Academics revamp committee. While we haven’t had the chance to pass out any certificates yet, I hope we can do so soon. It has taken longer than I expected to type up all the names. I’m hoping to find a faster method for the second round of certificates. I would also like to find a way to inform the student body about the certificates and pass them out during advisory to allow for easy organization. Special Committee- I am in the Gift to Campus special committee that is a part of the Challenge. The main goal of the special committee is to decorate the campus with spirit during the week of the challenge and create the spirit weeks. I researched decorations for the campus and filled out a PO along with sending Gia screenshots of the items. I also made two of the posts for publicity for the spirit days. The second PO I filled out was for the spirit item for Friday and the dance. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor is Mia! This month we worked on the 5 Dysfunctions of a Team together. While this was an assignment during the Challenge, I think it was good to see how teams other than mine work. We went over the dysfunctions themselves and then rated our teams and we were able to calculate where we each lacked certain components. I then did the coloring book that is going to Mia along with a hand-written letter. Concerns and Change- A concern I have is with team members showing a lack of effort. Planning a big event is not an easy task and being able to depend on your team members is important. If you cannot depend on your team members to complete certain tasks, it is going to be up to one person to get the job done. Being in leadership, we need to be able to count on one another and do our part. We signed up for the program and need to show we need to be there. I think the solution to this is to have a conversation and discuss what is going on. Positive Comment- I want to give my positive comment to the Junior Class Officers. They have been working hard for Prom and I love the ideas that they have come up with so far! I know Prom will be amazing due to their hard work and I am excited to see what they accomplish! Core Principles- While I have tried to follow the Core Principles, it is easier said than done. I believe that I’ve been able to be impeccable and giving my best foot forward. I have given my projects the best effort possible and I am proud of the work I produced. I also believe that I’ve remained true to evolving and growing with change. Things don’t always go how I want them to and I found that working with what I’m given and adapting is the best solution. I have also been a beacon of empowerment by trying to be a good leader and role model to the people around me. The one Core Principle I haven’t been so strong with is knowing my puzzle piece matters. I allowed myself to get stressed and anxious and even began to doubt my abilities as a leader. My Impact- I believe I have impacted the program the most during the month of February. I believe this because it is the month that I’ve felt the most sense of accomplishment and been proud of myself. 8th Grade Welcome Day was not very easy due to some componenets but I was able to do it and I’m proud of myself!
