Ximena Del Toro Freshmen Representative September 1, 2021 ASB Report August-September Position Assessment~ So far, as a freshman representative we have designed and sold class shirts with the other representative. We did this by having two meetings and discussing our options and what we wanted to do for the class shirts. As a freshman representative, we’ve also sold shirts at Pow Wow and Club Rush. Special Committee- I was working on dance publicity by making posters and hanging them around the school campus. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor is Lydia. We have walked to lunch together as a way to bond and get to know one another. We work well together in the classroom and my mentor has advised me and taught me how to do things I’ve never done before, especially counting cash boxes. My mentor has also been a good friend and someone who I can always greet any time of the day. Lydia and I can also easily have good conversations as if we’ve known each other for a long time. My mentor is also someone who I can count on therefor making me grateful for this program and my mentor. Concerns- My concern is that some people are not committed to showing up for their shift to sell shirts during Club Rush. During Club Rush, we each had a set schedule that everyone was supposed to work, but some people didn’t come through. My overall concern is commitment. If you say you will show up, make sure you show up and do your part. Positive Comment- A positive comment is that all the freshmen representatives are able to work well with one another and we have good communication as a group. We all take equal parts of the job and come together to make one final great outcome. Change- Something that I would like to see change is that the freshmen could maybe get a little more jobs during key events like Club Rush and the Back to School Dance for this month. Most of the time, the freshmen were working on journals and personal assignments while the rest of ASB was involved and taking part of the process to get ready for events. My impact- During these two months of school, I have had an impact by taking charge and taking care of key things for Pow Wow and Club Rush. For example, I was in charge of making forms to be filled out for class shirt orders and I was also in charge of counting the amount of class shirts that we need to buy. This is an impact because it is an important part of the class shirt process.
Ximena Del Toro Freshmen Representative October 13, 2021 ASB Report September-October Position Assessment- So far as a Freshman Representative, I’ve done many things. In the beginning of September, before all the Homecoming craziness, we had an Evolve! training with Scott Backovivh. In the Evolve! Training, we learned how to successfully make an event comfortable for others. After being having a discussion with Mr. Backovich, we went straight into Homecoming. It was my first homecoming, so I had a lot to learn. The first part of Homecoming was the Lip Sync Battle. We made a dance and we taught it to whoever signed up. After the night rally, I helped decorate a poster. We all got together and decorated for 6 hours. After the poster, I also helped decorate the window for the window decorating contest. Between the poster and window, we were also working on the float. We worked for two days. Six hours on the first day and then eight hours on the second day. As a Freshman Representative, I’ve also helped plan the Halloween Dance since the Freshmen are responsible for this dance. I have talked to the Dj, done the dance procedure form, made flyers, sold tickets, had a meeting with Mr. Perez with other Freshman Representatives to discuss location, made the purchase order for the Dj’s payment and the decorations, and filled out announcement forms. Special Committee- An important committee when it comes to Homecoming that I was a part of this year is the coronation committee. The coronation committee crowns king and queen. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor is Lydia. Since many events that happened during the month of September were all new to me, Lydia was there for me and helped me out when I needed help with something whether it was filling out paperwork or just getting inspiration. Everyday during Homecoming, she would ask if there was anything that she could help with. I am very thankful for her. Ever since we started planning the Halloween dance, she has helped us and told us about crucial things that must be done for the dance to go accordingly. Concerns- Something that concerns me is the lack of effort that comes from some people in the group. Everyone was given a task to complete during the float building process and the job was done, but it had to later be redone because of the lack of effort that was put into the project. Some people worked on the float for a total of eight hours while others just worked for two. I’m just generally concerned that most of the group is doing a lot of hard work while others are just doing things for themselves. Positive Comments- I just want to give a shout to all the Freshmen Reps! We all worked so hard and we stressed ourselves out, but we made it! We learned a lot and we definitely made mistakes, but we were able to problem solve and figure it out! We bonded and had so much fun while working. One thing I would like to see: Something that I would like to see is better time management. We kind of put more pressure on ourselves trying to get things done on tight deadlines. We kind of learned a lot about time management and that we need to work on our timing. We now have more knowledge that we can hopefully see and I already see it happening with the Halloween Dance. We were able to order things on time and we are so ready for this dance! My Impact- Something that I’ve done that will have an impact is that I’ve taken on a lot of responsibility for the dance and have done a lot of things that are crucial for the dance to happen successfully.
Ximena Del Toro Freshmen Representative December 7, 2021 ASB Report November-December Position Assessment- This month, as a Freshman Representative, I have not been really busy. In the beginning of November, I participated in Dude Be Nice. It was something really nice to be a part of. After Dude Be Nice, I helped my group work on the CASL Self Study. In November, all of the Freshmen Representatives worked on Winterfest. We agreed on a theme of mountain vs. beach and we have all worked together to come up with designs for all of the class competitions. In December, we worked on Warm & Fuzzy week. The Freshmen class agreed on an idea, we bought supplies, and we delegated responsibilities so everyone had a part and we decorated the tree. For Warm & Fuzzy, we also decorated the doors on campus. All of ASB came together and we spread some holiday cheer. I became the taper and it was fun bonding with my mentor and other girls in Leadership. The Freshmen class is also in charge of organizing the Staff and Student Basketball Game. I contacted Mr. Perez and we scheduled a date to meet and began the planning. I took minutes and shared them with my class so they can go on our websites. I also started working on the process for my Mock Interview. I have decided on the career I want to focus on this year, and created a cover letter and resume. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor is Lydia Waters. Lydia has been someone I can go to whenever I have questions about any event or assignment in Leadership. Lydia and I have gotten to know each other over the semester. We talk almost everyday and she checks up on me and asks me how I’m doing. Concerns- A concern that I currently have is the lack of communication. I am concerned about the lack of communication that there has been because nobody knows exactly what is happening, what certain things are, and who is doing what. Most of the Freshmen Representatives were confused as to when the Christmas tree decorating was happening and most importantly what the tree decorating meant. We were all scrambling to figure out a plan 12 hours before the event and the amount of bubbles was increasing for everyone. Positive Comments- A positive comment that I would like to make is that the Freshmen class Reps can really come together, make an idea, and make the best of the situation. We were all stressed and under pressure to complete an assignment but most of us really worked hard and used what we could to make the best out of the situation. At the end of the day, our tree looks pretty good if you ask me. One Thing I Would Like to See- Something I would like to see in this program is the senior and junior officers making more of an effort to get to know the underclassmen. Upperclassmen really only talk to themselves or their mentor. The underclassmen have very little understanding of why activities are what they are or what they are in general and it would be nice to see seniors and juniors making an effort to step up and help. My Impact- I have been an impact because I scheduled the meeting with Mr. Perez that allowed us to start planning the Staff and Student Basketball game. This meeting allowed us to get a head start on this event and helped us get an understanding of what is to happen and how this event works.
Ximena Del Toro Freshmen Representative February 1, 2022 January ASB Report Position Assessment- In the month of January, as a Freshman Representative, the biggest event we had as an officer team was Winterfest. For our first Winterfest, it went pretty well. We were much more prepared this time and we were able to complete things in a timely fashion. We even beat the seniors and got second place for the shopping cart competition. We spent the weekend before Winterfest at Claire’s house decorating the posters and trying to get things done so we could have everything ready for the competition. The only thing we really had to do was give the posters some alterations. In January, I started working on the Staff and Basketball game a little bit more. I started the procedure form and made an outline on Google Docs so I could easily write my data down. I also started my application for the 2022-2023 Leadership year. I will be running for the position of Sophomore Class Vice President. I turned my application in, wrote and filmed my speech, and started working on my publicity that I will post the week of class elections. In January, I mainly focused on Winterfest and submitting my application. Standing Committee- A standing committee that I was a part of in the month of January was the Balloon Arch Committee. I wasn’t in this committee at the beginning of the year but because Naomi was gone, I stepped in and helped so they had all the hands that they needed. I learned how to make a balloon arch and this committee is really fun! Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor this year is Lydia Waters. Lydia has been there for me and made sure that we were doing well and weren’t having trouble with any assignments or competitions especially during Winterfest. She also asked if we needed help with anything when it came to turning in our applications for the next school year. We have created a great bond over the last few months and I consider her as a big sister and role model in the program. Concerns- A concern that I have is that the people that don’t show up to help with things, are always the same. Some people always show up and help as much as they can and others don’t show up at all and when they do, they put very little effort into what they are doing. Positive Comment- I would like to give acknowledgement to Claire Morris. Claire can always take charge when we need to and without her we would not have succeeded as much as we have. Claire has always given us a place to work. Claire is a hard working person and is truly dedicated to this program. Change- Something that I would like to see change is the communication that we have within the program. Sometimes things can easily get lost in translation and it is important that we learn how to communicate so we all know what we’re supposed to do and how we’re supposed to do things. With a little bit more communication, things will go much smoother. Μy Impact- I have impacted this program by working hard during Winterfest and doing my part and more. I have also impacted this program by taking charge of the Staff and Student Basketball Game so we can be as prepared as we can be.
Ximena Del Toro Ms. Mortensen Leadership 12 April 2022 February and March ASB Report Position Assessment- In the months of February and March, I have been kept busy. In the month of February, we helped with managing the parking at the local Almond Blossom. I got to work with some of my officers and I took some extra hours and helped the clean up of the parking. In between these two months, we also did our A-Z Mentorship project. I really enjoyed doing this project for Lydia and I enjoyed receiving my own. We have also had meetings with our advisor, Mr. Perez as we have been planning the Staff/Alumni vs. Student Basketball Game. We have had multiple meetings to discuss the game and our plan to proceed and plan the event. While Morty was gone in March, the ASB class planned The Challenge and we have been working and waiting for the week to come. We have also made progress on our Mock Interviews and they are coming up within the next few weeks. Standing Committee- A standing committee that I am a part of is the balloon arch committee. Over the months of February and March, we have not created any balloon arches for any events. Special Committee- A special committee that I am a part of is the dance committee for the end of the year dance and the teacher appreciation committee also for the challenge. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor is Lydia. Over the months, Lydia and I have created a bond and a friendship. We talk everyday in class and Lydia always checks in on not just me, but my whole officer class. As the months end, I am realizing that my time with Lydia is coming to an end and I am going to really miss her. Concerns- A concern that I have is that some people out of my leadership officer class have not taken any responsibility in the process of planning the basketball game that is shortly coming up. We should all be working together and everybody should be taking responsibilities when planning our event. Positive Comment- A positive comment that I have is that although some people in my class are not doing the part, we are picking up the work that isn’t being done and working our hardest to get work done. Change- One thing that I would like to change is the communication between the different grade levels. We usually find ourselves just talking among our own class. I think it would be better if we were to communicate with each other just so our bonds in the leadership family get stronger. . My Impact- A way that I have impacted the leadership program is being an open person that anyone could come and talk to if they need someone to talk to. I want to be someone seen as friendly and willing to talk to everyone.
Ximena Del Toro Ms. Mortensen Leadership 12 May 2022 ASB Formal Meeting- The Final Months Position Assessment- In April, I had my very first Professional Mock Interview. I got to learn how an interview works while also learning about a possible career path I might choose in the future. Later in the month of April, the Freshman officers and I hosted the Staff/Alumni vs. Student Basketball game. It was our first time hosting a sports-related event. There was a track meet that same day and only Sofia, James, and I were able to put on the event, but we were able to overcome this challenge and host a successful game. In the month of April, I also got the chance to participate in Love Ripon. I enjoyed giving back to my community by restoring the bark in the parks. I had a lot of fun with my leadership peers. In the month of May, I attended the leadership conference in Modesto! I really enjoyed this conference and got to see the impact that leadership programs make on people’s lives. It was an amazing experience and I am thankful for the opportunity to have been able to attend. In the month of May, we also planned and executed the Challenge. There were a few bumps in the road, but it was overall a learning experience! Standing Committee-Special Committee- A special committee that I was a part of these past few months was the Staff Appreciation Committee for the Challenge. This committee came up with a plan to show the staff on campus our appreciation. We gave them goody bags filled with essential items for both the classroom and our teacher’s personal use. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor this year is Lydia. Lydia and I have created an amazing friendship, one that I will cherish forever. Over the months, Lydia has been there for me and given me advice and help with anything that I could need. She and I talk on a daily basis and she always greets me with hug. Concerns- A concern that I have for the leadership program is the communication that happens in the program. Through the course of the week that was the Challenge, we figured out that many people were not aware of what was going on. I am concerned that only a certain group of people are doing things for the class. I am also concerned that not all the people in the program are doing their part. I think we should be held accountable for not doing tasks that we were made responsible for. Positive Comment- A positive comment that I have is that I am so proud of the leadership class for being able to quickly step in and ask for help when we need it. There were circumstances were certain groups were not able to make it and show up. Peers in the program were able to ask others for help when we needed it and we were able to show up and step in, even in short notice. Change- Something that I could like to change in the program is the communication. The communication in the group can sometimes be bumpy. The lack of communication will and has affected the outcome and success of events and makes important people in the program become out of the loop. My Impact- I have impacted the program by being one of the three that ran the Staff/Alumni vs. Studnet Basketball Game. Running a whole new event, with little to no help can be scary. Especially having to run/coach the team with no basketball experience. Although it was hard, we got through it and I’m proud of us for being strong.
