Ximena Del Toro Sophomore Vice President September 1, 2022 ASB Report: July-August Position Assessment- I started off the year working on class shirts with my class officers. We met at Coffee House, came up with multiple designs, then let the rest of our class vote and from there, we adapted the shirt design to what fits best for our class as a whole. Then we headed to Core Camp. At Core Camp, I learned a lot about doing my job as best as possible. I learned about the little things that must occur for everything to flow. I made many memories with this year’s ASB members and got closer with many of them. Core Camp taught me how I can do my job better and the importance of many aspects. After Core Camp, we had Pow Wow. I made the google form that we were to fill out as people purchased shirts so we can keep a running count. This information also automatically went to a spreadsheet. Later at Pow Wow, I worked my shift selling shirt. We sold a good amount of shirts, not as much as last year, but still good numbers. After Pow Wow, school started. I worked on my portfolio and assignments. The Black Light Rally came around and I helped with decorations and even ran after the balloon arch a few times. Our class president was out for a few days so I stepped in and did anything that had to be done in that time frame and made sure the sophomores in the rally were aware and everything ran smoothly on our part. We then had Club Rush. I submitted announcement forms to publicize our class shirt sales. I also submitted a PO for spirit items so we can have them for future rallies. I had a little hope they would arrive for the Black Light Rally, but it didn’t happen. At least we now have items for the Homecoming Night Rally. On Wednesday I sold sophomore class shirts. On Thursday, I sold Ripon High merchandise including Pura Vida bracelets and ‘Dude. Be Nice’ bracelets. On Friday, I sold sophomore class shirts once again. I also was able to sell the one remaining class shirt from last year so we got all our merchandise out and are officially ready for our new merchandise to come in. I also went around promoting class shirts and helped direct people to other tables such as Powder-Puff, Yoga Club, and the student store for dance ticket sales. The same day after Pow Wow, I checked the numbers of the t-shirts on the spreadsheet and gave them to our Admin so we could submit the PO. I then checked with Davina to make sure our number of t-shirts sold matched the amount of money that we had in our account. Standing Committee- At this time, I am not a part of a standing committee. Special Committee- A special committee that I was a part of this month was the decorations committee for the Black Light Rally. This committee worked on blacking out the windows with black paper, hanging streamers, wrapping the bleacher handles with more streamers, and hanging up posters. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor this year is Dillan Saltsman. Dillan always asks about my day. I know Dillan will be someone I can ask questions to if I am ever doubtful of anything. I have already come to Dillan many times about doubts I’ve had and he has always been helpful. I can’t wait to get to know Dillan more this year. Concerns- A concern that I have is about my class. My class seems to find it easy to get distracted and draw attention from what is happening in class. It has become a common pattern for some kids in my class to not pay attention and start conversations and then be completely lost in the class. I feel like this might be a problem especially as we head into homecoming and knowing that we need to be able to all work together and everyone has to pay attention and be in the know of what is going on. Positive Comment- A positive comment that I have is for the sophomore class officers. We have been on top of our work and we were the first ones to have all of our t-shirt paperwork in. We already ordered everything that we need and as of right now, we are good to go. Our class has also been really good at turning paperwork in on time and doing the paperwork well. One Change- Something I would like to see change is the amount of effort some kids put into the program. A lot of times, the same few kids are always working while the same group of kids are just mingling and doing nothing. I think it would be better if everyone had a responsibility they were in charge of that way everyone is being productive and the job as a whole could get done much faster. My Impact- I have impacted my class by stepping in when needed. Our class president was gone for a few days so I stepped in and made sure everything we had to do was done. I turned the paperwork in and even made some announcement forms. I was able to keep things running and was able to help the President execute things.
Ximena Del Toro Sophomore Vice President October 15, 2022 ASB Report: September through Homecoming Position Assessment- This year, Homecoming planning began as soon as possible. We entered homecoming knowing that we wanted things to run differently than they did freshman year. We established the outcome we wanted and how we planned to achieve our goals and ensured everyone understood. The first thing we did to prepare for homecoming was discuss spirit competitions, sketches, and the direction we wanted to pursue as we had two options, and anything else homecoming. I then started working on the mass email that was later sent out to the entire sophomore class regarding homecoming. The email included asking for class volunteers to help work on the float, asking for our peers to participate in the Night Rally, spirit competitions, and the behavioral expectations that would soon follow. I worked with Claire and Morty in preparing the email and sending it out. Along with this, I created a google form that would be attached to the email and that was posted on our class Instagram account. The google form was the way that our classmates were able to respond and sign up. I worked on keeping a running list and then worked to gather names and numbers a week after the email was sent out so we could get started on reaching out to everyone. Claire and I also decided on the final song choices that fellow sophomores would be walking along to in the fashion show for spirit week ideas. The Sunday of homecoming, we all met at the gym and got started on decorating the gym for the gym decorations aspect of the rally. The sophomore officers then went to set up the window decorations on Monday morning and our window looked amazing. We ended up tying 1st place with the seniors! At the rally, Claire and I also handed out spirit items that our class could also use the following day which would be our class spirit day. Tuesday was the Night Rally. Our class had a bump in the road while setting up, but a quick sprint to the Dollar Store quickly solved the issue. Our dance was really good and a good amount of our class went to the rally to show support. Wednesday was the day of the lemonade stands. I was not able to help and set up in the morning, but my class did amazing. We won first place! I got out of advisory fifteen minutes early to move the stand from the front of the school to the front of the student store so students could take photos during lunch. Thursday was Powderpuff! During the seventh period, I helped the coronation committee by hanging up balloons. Since I was in Powderpuff, I was on standby during half-time to help with risers if help was needed. Even though my team lost, badly, it was still a successful night. Friday was parade day. The chaos did not start until the seventh period when we walked over to the church. Once we arrived at the church, we started doing last-minute touches on the float and waited until it was time for the parade to start. The parade was a success and we had a lot of fun. During half-time of the varsity game, the coronation crew cleaned up our posters, and that was the end of homecoming! Standing Committee- I am not a part of any Standing Committee at this time. Special Committee- I was in the Coronation Committee. This committee planned out how we were to crown the candidates at both the rally and crown those who won at the Powderpuff game. This committee also decorated the stadium for the Powderpuff and Homecoming game. Mentorship Evaluation- Dillan was able to give me advice on anything that I had questions about during this time. We have many conversations whenever we sat together in class and even when we weren’t seated together. I am enjoying getting to know Dillan more this year. Concern- A concern I have is the attitude between each class. Homecoming set a rough patch on the friendliness between the classes. The competition aspect of homecoming created a lot of tension between the classes and drama that was not necessary. Positive Comment- A positive comment that I have is to Gia Grewal. Gia was so organized during an already stressful event. She managed all the paperwork and did an excellent job. She worked so hard this month and deserves recognition. She also earned 100% on the procedure form and that is really outstanding work. Change- A change within leadership that I would like to see is the amount of respect between the classes. Yes, homecoming is a friendly competition and can create a lot of stress. But just because there is a stressful situation at hand does not mean that some classes can be disrespectful towards another or express harsh feelings. It would be nice to see all the classes respect each other and understand that there was no harm intended. My Impact- I have impacted the program by helping the Freshmen with their Halloween dance. The Freshies were struggling a little bit, as every Freshmen class does, and Claire and I stepped up and made sure that things were moving as smoothly as we could as some very important details were forgotten. I am trying to be someone that the freshman can come to for help.
Ximena Del Toro Sophomore Vice President November 15, 2022 ASB Formal Meeting- Adapted Position Assessment- There has been a lot happening since Homecoming. We have been planning Winter Formal for some time now and the day just keeps getting closer. I have been in contact with the DJ company, Sounds in Motion. We have been keeping in touch and I have been taking care of anything that needs to be done as the time gets closer. On November 1, we announced all details regarding formal. I was in charge of taking care of the guest passes. I made the publicity. When talking to Malia, music suggestions came up. I did publicity for it and made a google form where people can submit music. I have been inputting the songs into a playlist so we can send them to Sounds in Motion. I also turned in the check last week and as of today, we do not owe any money to Sounds in Motion and we are good to go. In October, Claire, Gia, Elias, and I also took photos with Leonard photography to create flyers that we can hang around campus and use as another form of publicity. I also participated in Dude be Nice and it was so nice to see Ms. Van Vuren’s reaction. Aside from formal and Dude be Nice, my class and I have also been working on Winterfest and Warm & Fuzzy week. We have amazing sketches done by Gia and they look amazing. We went through the supplies we needed and ordered them. Since I am my class’ vice president, an assignment of mine is to work alongside the other VPs in the class and create a community service project. We have created ‘Grateful for Our Orgins’ and I am so excited to see how our event turns out this Friday. Dude be Nice- I did not have a direct role in this event. I gave my input when it came to deciding who this year’s dude or dudette would be. I also wrote a letter to Ms. Van Vuren and handed it to her during the rally. Winterfest- The Sophomore Class’s app for Winterfest is the Weather app. Our amazing Gia has created beautiful sketches for each of the competitions. We have finalized all our ideas and we order most of the supplies that we will need during the week of Winterfest. We have our letter for our selected business and the only thing left to do is get the cart. We have acquired a Christmas tree, and we’re praying everything comes in before we need them… unlike last year. Warm & Fuzzy- Standing Committee- Every shirt that was preordered has been handed out to its rightful owner. The only inventory that we have of class shirts are the ones that got sent to us by accident. We have multiple 2XL shirts when we didn’t even order one. We gave one away to Superfan and another was given away to the class during the Dude be Nice rally. Special Committee- As I mentioned before, I alongside the other class VPs have been working to create our community service project. We have created ‘Grateful for Our Orgins’ where we are going to be doing a beautification project at 3 elementary schools. The project will be on November 18. We have been working with Love Ripon in creating a waiver and using their platform for sign-ups. We will also be presenting at the December board meeting. The project is quickly coming to an end and I’m so proud of the hard work put into this project. My CASL group was also with the VPS and we are in charge of writing about community service at Ripon High. We are given the opportunity to talk about our project. Positive Comment- I would like to give my positive comment to Gia. Gia has done a great job handling our class paperwork and making sure everything is done well and on time. Gia has also created beautiful sketches that brought our ideas to life for Winterfest. We are so grateful to have her as our class admin. Change- A change I would like to see is the use of work days. Work days give us the chance to do any paperwork, meetings, or anything else that needs to be done. As a class officer, this time is valuable as it allows us to work and get things done for future events considering Winter Formal is two short weeks away. A few members of the class were doing things that were off-task, and risking work days getting taken away. I would like to see everyone staying on task and asking others if they need help with anything. Concern- A concern within the program that I have is the participation coming from other people in the class. On days where we have a lot to get done, like on a work day, it would be nice to see other people within the same class offering to help others. Ximena Del Toro
My Impact- I have impacted this program by helping my class as we approach Winter Formal, Winterfest, and Warm & Fuzzy Week. For Formal, I have been in charge of communicating and hiring the DJ. I have contracted the company that we have been wanting for this event since freshman year. I have also impacted the program by working alongside the other VPs in the program to create our community service project
Ximena Del Toro Sophomore Class Vice President December 15, 2022 ASB Report: December Position Assessment- December has been busy. The first few days of December were all Winter Formal. We spent the whole week selling tickets. There were some hiccups on the way, but after talking with Davina, we worked together and got them all figured out. The first Saturday of December was Winter Formal! We were at the school early to set up and decorate. We were done a few hours before the dance. The weather was not the best, so we had to make some changes to our original plan, but it all worked out in the end. After the dance, we cleaned up and put everything back to how we found it. The first Sunday of December was also door decorating day. I was my group’s team leader. We did such a good job decorating our doors despite the challenges that we faced. I am so incredibly thankful and proud of my group. December also entails Warm and Fuzzy week. On Wednesday after school, I along with the other sophomores worked on decorating our Christmas tree. I then attended the night rally. It was my first time attending a night rally and I really liked it. We have also been working on ordering items for Winterfest. I have been storing the things that have already come in at my house. The other class Vice Presidents and I are also about to start our presentation on our community service project that we will present to the board at January’s board meeting. Standing Committee- I am not a part of a standing committee at this time. Special Committee- A special committee I was a part of in the month of December was the door decorating committee. We went around campus and decorated the doors with wrapping paper. I was my group’s team leader and we were in charge of a total of seven doors. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor for this school year is Dillan. I want to start this off by saying I am so so so incredibly proud of Dillan for all of his hard work, His hard work and commitment have paid off, and he deserves every good thing that comes his way. I have enjoyed having Dillan as my mentor this year and he has become someone that I can look up to. Concern- Winter Formal was a stressful period of time. Something that I became concerned about in the process of planning Formal was the lack of communication. There were often times someone out of the four officers was unaware of what was going on and other things. Communication is a vital part of being a successful team. Positive Comment- I would like to give some praise to the Freshman Officers at this time. They pulled off a successful spirit week. That is no easy job and I would like to acknowledge their hard work these past few weeks. Change- A change that I would like to see within my class is the amount of communication that is going on between the eight of us. Communication is vital and if this is something that we like, our class won’t be successful. I saw a lot of times where communication has been essential within these past few weeks, but communication was a missing factor. My Impact- I have impacted the program by being someone my class can depend on. There have been a lot of questions that have risen over the weeks and I have been someone my class can come to and ask questions without hesitation. I want to be someone that people not only in my class can come to.
Ximena Del Toro Sophomore Class Vice President February 06, 2023 ASB Report: January Position Assessment- This month was a crazy one! I started the month off by presenting at the Board Meeting about the community service project, Grateful for our Origins, along with the other VPs. A week after, I presented my speech on “My Day in the Life.” While this was all happening we had also been working on Winterfest. We spent the afternoons decorating, doing good amounts each day so everything was not rambled on each minute. During Winterfest, we also had the Night Rally. I don’t have much talent when it comes to choreographing, so that was left to Gaby, Gia, and Sofia. As much as I wanted to, I couldn’t participate in the Night Rally due to so many appointments and my back problems. I did sit in the front row and watched my class do an amazing job. Along with every other competition, our class did a great job. Just because we did not get a high ranking in all the competitions, it does not mean we didn’t try! In the month of January, I also turned in my leadership and Link Crew applications! Standing Committee- I am a part of the Senior Celebration week. Special Committee- Along with the rest of the class, I have been working on the hearts for Valentine’s Day. Other committees I am a part of are the Tribe Awards, dry cleaning the curtains, Leadership Development Day, and the Virtual Jog-a-Thon Fundraiser. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor for this semester is David. I am excited to learn more about David! During the month of January, we talked and we even had lunch together. I enjoyed our lunch as I was able to learn more about David. Concerns- A concern that I have is election season coming up. This year, many people are changing their positions. The class dynamic is bound to change. I am concerned that there will be a change in the class bond. Positive Comment- I would like to give my positive comment to Claire. Claire is such a fierce leader. She will do so much as President and has so much potential. The past month has been a rough one for me and she has been such an understanding person. I am sad that we won’t be closely working together next year but I know we will always have our friendship. Change- A change that I would like to see within the program is the amount of bond between some of the classes. Especially within the upper and lower classmen. I know we are pretty far into the year but it is never too late to bond. My Impact- I have impacted the program by being someone my class can come to. With any questions that have risen this past month, I have tried to be someone that my peers can come to and ask their questions to.
Ximena Del Toro Sophomore Class Vice President March 3, 2023 ASB Report: February 1. What committee(s) have you been placed on, explain them, and what is your role? I have been on the Gift to Students Committee. This committee is planning how we will give back to our student body. We are giving back to them in the form of the annual End of the Year Dance. This year’s dance theme is ‘Carival.’ My role on this committee was to find appropriate and suitable items that we can give out to the student body. We hope that these small items will motivate students to attend the dance. This works by giving students an accessory they can wear or use at the dance. My role was to find items that were small in charge but we get a good number. I also sent the information to Jenna, our team leader, along with calculating how much of each item we need to purchase and the pricing. I was also responsible for filling out the purchase order and getting the signatures needed to submit the purchase order and get it approved. I have also been giving my input on the lunch time activity as it is also something the Gift to Students Committee is responsible for. 2. What did you contribute during the week to the committee work and presentation for next week? During the week of planning the challenge, I contributed by helping the Gift to Students committee. I gave my ideas, input, and opinion. I was also in charge of a taking care of small items we can hand out to the students. I contributed to the presentation next week by creating a slide with Lucia that will explain our lunch time activity. 3. What will you be in charge of the week of the challenge? During the week of the challenge, I do not have anything that I am specifically in charge. During the challenge however, I will be helping with the lunch time activity and the distribution of the small items that I have submitted a purchase order for. 4. What are some pros that you saw during this week while planning and executing various items? Some pros that I saw during this week while planning and executing various items were multiple teams of people working together to create a grand event. Everyone had many different ideas that were able to be added to the project, one way or another. Another pro is that people were able to stand out of their comfort zone and take lead of a project and even assist. 5. What are some cons that you saw during this week while planning and executing various items? Some cons I saw during this week while planning and executing various items is a handful of people misusing the time we were given to complete the project. This comes with not even doing work for another class. This means doing nothing during the class period. I believe that this class has good behavior and we will get things done so cons aren’t something that I have a lot of. 6. What will you be speaking about in the formal presentation? During the formal presentation, I will be speaking about the lunch time activity that has been planned by the Gift to Students Committee. I will be speaking about this topic along with Lucia as we have created the slide on this topic. 7. What is your overall opinion of the event idea? My overall opinion of the event idea is very good. I believe that this event is a great chance for the class to plan to a series of events ourselves. We can express our ideas and bring them to life. It is a chance for the class to prove what we are capable of doing and showcase our strengths and how far we have come this school year. It is also a chance for the class to show how strong of a class we are and they we can in fact do amazing things. 8. Do you believe this class will be successful in planning and executing this event? I believe with great certainty that this class will be successful in planning and executing this event. I believe that we have been doing such a great job this past week with working together and creating ideas. Not only do we have this year’s experience, but we also have the ability to learn from last year’s mistakes. We are able to modify things done last year and change them if they did not work to make them work for our class and take the steps necessary to ensure that the same mistakes get done. This past week, I have already seen great communication not only between team leaders and members, but between team leaders, members, and members of other committees along with the entire class. 9. What should be done to peers in the class that do not fulfill their jobs? I believe that peers in the class that do not fulfill their jobs get a grade deduction. If for some reason peers cannot fulfill their jobs and delegate, I believe that they should still get a good grade as they were able to communicate and ask for help. If a peer can’t complete their job and decided to not ask for help, not only is it letting the class down, but it is also letting the student body down. This project isn’t on one person and everyone should be expected to do their jobs if they are trusted with one. 10. What is your favorite aspect to this event? What are you excited most for occurring? My favorite aspect to this event is seeing the student body, community, and teachers enjoy the events that we execute. It gives such a sense of accomplishment and pride seeing others enjoy the events and knowing that our hard work does pay off. I am most excited for the dance to occur. During the dance, the school comes together and is able to spend an evening together having fun before the school year ends.
Ximena Del Toro Sophomore Vice President May 08, 2023 ASB Report: April-May Position Assessment- The month of April was a fun one! While we are only a few days into the month of May, a lot has already been done. The first thing that I did in the month of April as the Sophomore Class Vice President was to plan Senior Celebration Week. It was the first time in a couple of years that we do this spirit week and that allowed us to come up with great ideas on how we wanted to approach something that would have been new to the students on campus. We had meetings with our class advisor, Ms. Ochoa, to create ideas, spirit days, and even activities that we could possibly do. We also had a meeting with Ms. Mortensen to make sure we could execute what we wanted and to make sure she was also informed of what was going on. We worked on this project for the entirety of the month. I am glad to say we had a successful week despite the hiccups we might have come across. It was definitely a good way to end the year in regard to spirit weeks. Moving on to the next thing I did in the month of April was assist in Tribe Awards. I was on the special committee and helped with clean-up. During the month of April, I also had my Mock Interview! I thoroughly enjoyed my interview this year and I was able to get insight into a different aspect of the job that I would not have otherwise been able to see. I am grateful for the opportunity and it helped me decide if it is a career I could pursue in the future or not. The last thing I did in April as the Sophomore Class Vice President was do community service for Love Ripon! I was actually able to do two community service jobs on this day! I started off the month of May strong by attending the CADA Modesto Conference. I was able to start my training for next year’s job that I am very excited about! Standing Committee- I am not part of a standing committee at this moment. Special Committee- A special committee that I was a part of in the month of April was the Tribe Awards committee. Being on this committee entailed set-up and clean-up for the event. Although I was not required to attend the event in its entirety, I chose to as it is always nice to see who was being awarded and hear the wonderful things teachers have to say about their students. I am also on the Challenge committee. I helped in any aspect that I could and did everything that was asked of me by the team leaders. Mentorship Evaluation- My mentor this semester is David! Being able to talk and learn more about David this semester has been so nice! I am thankful for the mentorship program because it allowed me to connect with an amazing person so many people should aspire to learn from. I aspire to David and his amazing dedication and work ethic! Concerns- A concern I have is that because we are approaching the end of the year, the work has become lazy in a way. I am not saying that I have not done this, because I have and I think a lot of us did. As leaders, it is important for us to finish off the school year as we started it and continue to work hard and be able to fulfill our jobs in the program. Positive Comment- I would like to give my positive comment to Gracie! Being in charge of the CADA could not have been an easy job. Along with that, she also has AP exams to take. She showed her dedication and pushed through, although it must have been hard at times. Not everyone can accomplish as much, but Gracie did! One Change- Along with my concern, I would like to see the class as a whole put a little more effort into the program and our jobs. As tired as we all are, the school year is not done and we still have a lot to do, including the Challenge! It is not the time to give up and we need to work hard to be able to do our jobs and execute events. My Impact- I have impacted the program by assisting in Senior Celebration Week. I believe this spirit week brought some joy to the class, especially the seniors. Senior events are always fun and this could have been seen as a kick-off to the final countdown!
